Boomerang, Smart Shopping Companion

Boomerang, the first cashback application in Iran, introduces a new shopping experience by establishing a direct connection between FMCG producers and consumers: returning a portion of everyday shopping expenses

With the formation of the initial product version and the beginning of market expansion, youx Studio joined as Boomerang’s digital product design partner, focusing on user experience and working to shape a comprehensive ecosystem. This included not only end users but also technical teams, marketing departments, and partner brands.

The main goal along the way was to create a seamless, simple, and trustworthy experience, aligned with Iranian shopping culture, technical infrastructure, and business requirements.

Simple, Familiar, Trustworthy

In Boomerang, users can earn a specified cashback amount after purchasing eligible products from partnered stores, by either uploading their receipt or scanning the product’s QR code. This amount is added to the Boomerang wallet and can be used for mobile top-ups, bill payments, or transferred to a bank account.

To design this experience, the core user flows, including browsing products, checking brands and stores, scanning receipts using OCR technology, and tracking cashback status, were carefully defined and mapped. OCR (Optical Character Recognition) plays a key role in simplifying the submission process by enabling quick extraction of invoice details without manual entry.

The information architecture, navigation, and UI of the app were designed to guide users toward their goals without complexity. Streamlined flows, visual clarity, and structured layout contributed to a smooth and reliable user experience.

A Shared Path with Partner Brands

As Boomerang’s activity expanded and user engagement increased, the need for custom solutions for business partners also emerged. Brands such as Rani, Kaleh, Shahrvand, and Pemina required dedicated tools to launch sales campaigns and interact with users.

Based on the real needs of marketing and sales teams, dedicated management panels, data dashboards, and campaign pages were designed. These included loyalty programs for each brand, custom festival pages, and tools for tracking campaign data, analyzing user behavior, and managing reports.

Infrastructure for Growth

Throughout the collaboration, Boomerang’s diverse product needs were analyzed and addressed step by step. This process led to the design of precise user interfaces, clear interaction flows, and complete documentation in Figma, providing a strong foundation for ongoing product development.

All UI assets were delivered with visual consistency, as modular and scalable components, enabling the Boomerang team to meet the platform’s evolving demands over time.

An Ongoing Collaboration

The Boomerang project is not just about designing an app, it is about building a growing digital platform that effectively connects users, companies, and brands. This collaboration is still ongoing, progressing through market understanding, systems thinking, and the creation of meaningful experiences toward continuous and sustainable product growth.
